After a long absence from my gallery, AirHeads, which is my Occidentalized parody of Avatar: The Last Airbender, has finally returned! And with some changes and updates to the characters looks and such. And I drew them in modern-day clothes rather than the historical clothes they usually wear, just for fun (Yvonne is an exception, because I felt like drawing her in a Roman stola).
I decided to re-do the cast, altering certain features and names to make the story better than it already is. The most notable changes are the Fabulous Flames Girls; Anita is now named "Azalea", and the spelling of Tammie Lee has been changed to "Tammy" Lee. You could see their old versions right here: [link]
So, from left to right, here's the reloaded cast:
Yvonne de L'Eau (Yue), Andy Breeze (Aang), Topham Bette Forester (Toph), Katarina Hanseshiver (Katara), Susie Mineral (Suki), Sven Hansenshiver (Sokka), Zane Burns (Zuko), Maria Quemada (Mai), Tammy Lee Charred (Ty Lee), Azalea Burns (Azula), and Uncle Ian (Iroh).
I wanted to re-do them because I wanted them to be more in-character, unlike the first line-up, which had Tammy Lee looking like Vicky from The Fairly OddParents!, and Azalea with a weird hair-do that doesn't even fit her. (technically, she should look like Vicky...)
A few notes on the characters:
-Susie is actually holding a fan for once instead of cheerleader pom-poms.
-Maria now has black hair, and her weapon is stiletto heels)
-Tammy Lee has pink highlights. Also, I changed her into being a circus acrobat who attacks her enemies pressure points with a spray called "Bending-B-Gone".
-Although from Pyromania, Ian is wearing Terra Firma clothing, because he's undercover.
-The pattern on Kat's blouse took a long time, with the pen tool width adjusting and color ordering.
-I was originally going to include a non-bending rebel named Jake (Jet), and a earthbender named Harris (Haru), but cut them out because I felt they were unnecessary.
And so, there you have it. the AirHeads! cast...reloaded. --
Kind of, in a way. The characters are based more on Western Nationalities in general. Andy, Topham, and Susie are Mid 20th century American, Katarina and Sven are Germanic-Scandinavian, Yvonne is supposed to be French, Zane, Azalea, Tammy Lee, and Maria are a mix of Mexican/Brazilian/Spanish, and Uncle Ian is supposedly Scottish.
I am so bad at commenting on friends' things ;o; please accept my apologies aaaa
but WOW you put so much detail into all your art!! I'm really sorry that you don't get more comments on your stuff because these must take you forever. Do you use the pen tool to do all your outlining and stuff? your lines are really smooth and precise and look fantastic!
I haven't gotten through Avatar enough yet to recognize all of these guys' counterparts, but I do recognize most of them and get some of the subtle hints. C: Katarina here is my favorite!
I'm very happy that you like this! And yes, I do accept your apologies.
I do use the pen tool for all my art. Before, it took me even longer with the brush, and the lines were uneven and jagged. I am very glad you appreciate all the work I put into this.
And it's ok if you don't recognize all the characters. You could probably look them up on AvatarSpirit.net or the Avatar Wikia (I included the real names in the comments for those who may not know). And I actually had a blast designing Katarina's outfit (whose pattern was done with the pen tool's stright line option), along with the other clothes (I love designing clothes for female characters a lot of the time).
Again, I'm glad you love it. They will appear more often, so keep and eye out for them!
