Finally got it done... my very last deviation of 2011 to celebrate! --
I started this one back on Christmas Eve, and just finished it today. I lost count of the individual layers that this piece is composed of, let alone the layer groups. I wanted to make sure it looked as professionally done as possible. Also, this is my first time using Art Media Layers, which are present in the art for the "Air" text. The pen tool was used for creating many of the background designs (as well as preset shapes), and also the elemental substances (rocks, flames, etc.).
And now onto the subject of the artwork:
From Left to Right: Andy, Katarina, Topham, and Zane, all with their respective dance styles and elements.
The themes are as follows:
Air: Hip-Hop, Urban, Street, Graffiti art, that kinda stuff.
Water: Girly, Flowy, almost like an old-fashioned storybook to emphasize the ballerina theme. Two symbols of tidal water balance are hidden in the background.
Earth: To bring out the Swing, Jazz, and Rock & Roll influence, I went with a more 50's-inspired look, looking all nifty and mid-20th Century retro.
Fire: Obviously influenced by Latin America, mainly Mexican art. Sun designs help energize the background and emphasize the fiery-ness. --
Hope you guys like it. Tell me what you think, and I'd like to hear some constructive criticism on this. I'm especially proud of this piece; took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. --
I remember someone on this site did something similar except the artist used hip-hop dance styles.
Air= House dance (because of it focuses on footwork.)
Fire= Bboying (It's very fitting especially if you've seen the breakdance esque moves Zuko pulled off in the cartoon)
Earth= Krumping (Although the artist never got around to drawing Toph this style would be the most fitting with all the chest popping, arm swinging and stomping.)
Water= A combination of Pop-Locking and Whaccking ( Just like Waterbending alot of arm movement is involved but again the artist never got around to drawing Katara.)
